Wierded Out

I’m really wierded out right now.  I got rear-ended by a drunk driver on the way home from the conference center.  It wasn’t a bad accident- just a ding really.  But we called the cops because the lady who hit me seemed drunk.  I think it could have been worse but I saw her coming up on me (I was stopped at a red light) and I hit the gas to try and get out of her way.  I keep wanting to think it is unfortunate that I wasn’t able to get out of the way but then I think- what if she hadn’t hit me and had gone on to get into a worse accident later on tonight?  All in all I’m happy we decided to call the cops.  I keep thinking of the quote generally attributed to Sir Edmund Burke; All that is required for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing’.  Because while I am happy that we helped enforce what I feel to be an important law, I feel like the servant who; upon receiving the pardon of his huge debt imprisoned the man indebted to him for a pittance that he still owed him.  As my faithful readers will know, I rear-ended two cars within five minutes of each other a couple months back and neither of the two drivers even took it to my insurance company let alone the police.  While I do feel that these circumstances are a bit different, I still feel a bit guilty and ungrateful to those drivers.  Anyways-all in all the whole weekend has been a learning experience for me so far.
