Are we going to war with Iran?

"The Sunday Telegraph warned last weekend that the UN had a last chance to avert war with Iran and, at a meeting in London last week, the US ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, expressed his regret that any failure by the UN security council to deal with Iran would damage the security council's relevance, implying that the US would solve the problem on its own."

"The UN's International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors have found that Iran has not, so far, broken its commitments under the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, although it has concealed activities before. It appears that the UK and US have decided to raise the stakes in the confrontation with Iran. The two countries persuaded the IAEA board - including India - to overrule its inspectors, declare Iran in breach of the non-proliferation treaty (NPT) and say that Iran's activities could be examined by the UN security council. Critics of this political process point to the fact that India itself has developed nuclear weapons and refused to join the NPT, but has still voted that Iran is acting illegitimately. On the Iranian side there is also much belligerent talk and pop music now proudly speaks of the nuclear contribution to Iranian security.

Mountains rule!

Mountain bike season is almost over. That means....... SKI season is just around the corner. By the corner I mean next weekend. Yes that's right. Next weekend we're skiing the snow field on Timp. Then after Alta gets a little bit more snow we'll hit that up too. It should be pretty sweet. But yeah- definitely happy that the season is almost over because my bike can't handle much more of this. And I can't handle it much more. True story. So next season- new bike for Randy. This time I'm for real though. I really am getting a new bike. Ok. End of writing because the lights are off and I am falling asleep. My bike- Muddy

Wierded Out

I’m really wierded out right now.  I got rear-ended by a drunk driver on the way home from the conference center.  It wasn’t a bad accident- just a ding really.  But we called the cops because the lady who hit me seemed drunk.  I think it could have been worse but I saw her coming up on me (I was stopped at a red light) and I hit the gas to try and get out of her way.  I keep wanting to think it is unfortunate that I wasn’t able to get out of the way but then I think- what if she hadn’t hit me and had gone on to get into a worse accident later on tonight?  All in all I’m happy we decided to call the cops.  I keep thinking of the quote generally attributed to Sir Edmund Burke; All that is required for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing’.  Because while I am happy that we helped enforce what I feel to be an important law, I feel like the servant who; upon receiving the pardon of his huge debt imprisoned the man indebted to him for a pittance that he still owed him.  As my faithful readers will know, I rear-ended two cars within five minutes of each other a couple months back and neither of the two drivers even took it to my insurance company let alone the police.  While I do feel that these circumstances are a bit different, I still feel a bit guilty and ungrateful to those drivers.  Anyways-all in all the whole weekend has been a learning experience for me so far.
